This ‘hands on’ learning can help to break down barriers and increase understanding between Aboriginal and non-aboriginal women giving them a chance to come together and have some ‘yarn time’ in a safe environment. Yarn time can be considered as healing time where the women can talk about any issues bothering them and feel connected with the other women in the course. This is all done while the women
learn traditional methods of Aboriginal weaving. The weaving is a vehicle through which the facilitators can guide the group and discuss health and wellbeing.
